Director of Product and Content Systems

Full-time

Remote or Orland Park, IL

Reports to Co-CEOs

$70K–$90K

What you’ll do

Product and user experience

  • Own the design, UX, and product experience for Watermelon+, our streaming platform. This is the first priority of the role.
  • Own the design, UX, and product experience for Markaz. You’re the voice of the user on every screen.
  • Own all company websites: content updates, design, and user experience across all sites (including all labels, Markaz, Watermelon Collective, etc.)
  • Define and improve the user experience across all other digital products and internal tools

Content systems and data management

  • Own the CMS data: ensure title metadata, assets, and catalog information are clean, complete, accurate, and structured for every platform that pulls from it
  • Build and maintain standards for how content data is entered, tagged, categorized, and maintained across the catalog
  • Work with sales, marketing, and distribution to make sure the CMS serves their needs and the data they depend on is reliable

Creative asset management

  • Be the single owner of all artwork across the organization. Build and maintain an archiving and storage system: organized, categorized, tagged, and searchable within Markaz.
  • Handle miscellaneous design work across the company: branding, logos, digital ads, e-newsletters, merch, and other creative needs as they come up
  • Maintain design templates and asset libraries so teams can move faster without sacrificing quality

Operations and Markaz coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business teams and the Markaz technical team. Translate operational needs into clear product requirements.
  • Identify workflow gaps across departments and design solutions to address them

Required

  • 5+ years in a role combining product management, UX, and content or data systems
  • Experience owning a digital product from a design and user experience perspective
  • Strong understanding of CMS and metadata: how catalog data is structured, maintained, and used downstream
  • Experience building creative asset management systems: archiving, tagging, organization at scale
  • Ability to write clear product requirements for technical teams
  • Detail-oriented and systematic. You care about clean data as much as clean design.

Preferred

  • Experience in film, media, entertainment, or distribution
  • Familiarity with how content metadata flows between internal systems and external platforms
  • Background working with internal operations or product platforms
  • Experience in a growing company where systems were being built alongside the business
